LDS Blog Train: A Place in HIstory

I am so excited about this round's LDS Blog Train. The group is providing scraping materials for those trips to church history sites. Most will also work for any history trips. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a rich history, some of which happened very near to where I live in Missouri.

Anyway ... I wish I would have taken the time to do more. I included a treated photo from our place and some gingham and dots that were popular dress fabrics in the day.

General Conference

I have been enjoying conference and trying to take notes. I printed off some note taking papers and found them wanting. First  of all, after conference I want to sort them into my topic files, not keep them together. Second, they only had a few for the seventy and other speakers. I created one that I can use, doodle on, scribble, etc. It is generic, just print a pile for conference day or when you read the talks later. Download the pdf from Google Drive.

Dream Vacation: Family Reunion

The final round at The Studio was to create a kit about a dream vacation.
It seems that lately, when the family gets together it is for a funeral. I would love to see my mom's remaining sibling and all my cousins to get together just to have fun and make memories.

Beach Theme

Wahoo! Another week in the contest and another kit. This week's theme was Beach Getaway and we had to use a photo as inspiration. I selected a photo I took at Port Aransas Wildlife Preserve on Mustang Island Texas when I worked a summer at Corpus Christie - oh, so many years ago.
This week was more difficult because I had so many ideas for elements, only a few actually made it into the kit. This will be a packed kit when I remake it for sale.

The Studio Designer Contest

Yep, I have submitted to The Studio's annual designer contest. I have enjoyed the time, comradery and themes in past year and it is off to a great start this year again with a fun palette and theme.

Zucchini

The garden is doing ... mediocre. Producing, but not in volumes. The squash does well in hiding the fruit of the vine and we had some that got kinda big. Here is what we did:

• brown sausage - added Italian seasoning
• scooped out the squash and added to sausage
  (one of the squash had big seeds - they went for the chickens)
• spooned sausage mix into zucchini and topped with shredded cheese.
• backed @300 for 50 min.

Things to change - mix the cheese in.

I really liked this.

Destination: Unknown

Yeah!! I have revamped and repacked the huge kit I created while teaching a designer class. This fun pack was so loaded that I divided it into 3 large kits. Fun kit for those road trips to anywhere or car rides across town.

ATC Challenge at DSS

Wahoo! I am hosting the ATC challenge at DigiScrapStation. (ATC is artist trading card, but mine turn out more like movie trading cards or mini-brag books). I am giving away this Brag Book Bits from my future kit Everyday Adventures: Summer so this is not going to be in the store for a while. Scoop - Pinterest Win

This one was super simple and much needed. Our feed scoops are wearing out (or getting dog chewed). The smaller bleach bottle makes a scoop slightly larger than our mid-sized scoops and has the added benefit to serve as a funnel.

Another Color Challenge

Maybe someday I'll actually get a real kit done, In the mean time I finished up this one for the Moo Two Paint the Barn Color Challenge and the one for the LDS blog train (leaving the station on 15 June. Coupon code and link the store are in the forum linked above.

Pinterest Headband Try

I have a gi-normous collection of things to do on Pinterest. I tried a few on the last weekend. I tried the Knotted Jersey headband.
The bottom is my first try ... FAIL! but I tried again with success. I hot glued another strand under because I was going to braid, but the did not look good. The second reason I added a strand was that the original did not fit around my head. I also had thought to add a bit of elastic between the ends for a quick slip on, but the ends were long enough to tie and it does stretch a bit.

Family Travels: Another Pinterest Try

I have attempted another Pinterest inspired family thingy. Our family has traveled a great deal and when you add in the in-laws, we start filling the map. So that is what I have started. I will have 6x4 scrapped family groups from various times around the outside creating a frame. Inside small (8 to a 4x6) events that are linked to locations.
Still tossing around how much information to include on the smaller cards - (how much can be read at 3 paces?)
Starting on the next round soon.

Free Designer Class

Thing are rolling along for the class I will be leading. A slow paced beginning designer class will be taught at Moo Two - sign up here. You must be a member of Moo Two Designs (free sign up) and willing to spend 2-6 hours per week to keep up. We are offering it free during the first run to work out some kinks.

MooTwo Color Challenge

I am hosting the MooTwo Color Challenge this month. As leader, I have created a mini kit to share. Details are in the Paint the Barn thread and a coupon code to get this for free.

Starting in Feb, I will also be hosting a beginner designer class. The first round will be free (we need test subjects).  The class will be 12 weeks with weekly assignments. The participants will be creating a mega kit together (sold by MooTwo to cover the cost of the class, some restrictions apply- mostly can't sell your part as is, but change the color, improve it, mix it around, yeah). Secret: We may select some new designers from the class. I will get back with more details, but if you are interested post in the Paint the Barn thread and I will get back with you.
